Design House
Sustainability. This word is on the minds of many people and institutions on this planet – and could not be left out of C.E.S.A.R’s operations. One of the Center’s initiatives is the Design House, a branch specializing in the development of low-consumption analogical and mixed integrated circuits, SiliconReef. This team designs innovative solutions for the semiconductor market taking into consideration the planet’s sustainability.
SiliconReef earned first place award in Desafio Brasil 2009, a challenging entrepreneurship competition coordinated by the Study Center for Private Equity and Venture Capital at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (GVcepe) and sponsored by Intel. The winning product, EH01, uses energy harvesting technology, i.e., it manages the capture, conditions and store available energy in the environment into electrical energy. What this means is that sources of energy such as solar energy, thermal energy and vibrations are transformed into electrical energy which can then be used by electronic devices.
Desafio GV Intel began in 2006. More than 350 Brazilian teams compete for prizes in the amount of R$30,000,00 and a chance to be one of eight participating teams in the Latin American Challenge; two of the eight teams will then compete in the international IBTEC (Intel+UC Berkeley Technology Entrepreneurship Challenge). A goal of the competition is the creation of new businesses based on technology and innovation.
